About Us
Marcus Appleyard is a half-English half-Swedish farrier working out of Waco TX. He met his wife Kaylyn at Baylor University and is married with 4 cats (Neoptolemus, Magni, Modi, Atalanta) and a dog (Briney Deep). In 2020 Marcus attended Chris Gregory's prestigious school of farriery- Heartland Horseshoeing School, where he graduated their 24 week Journeyman program. Appleyard Farrier & Smithy was founded in December of that same year, and Marcus has been working in Central Texas ever since.
Marcus attends many clinics and competitions each year to continue his education and hone his skills. He achieved his Certified Journeyman Farrier qualification with the AFA in 2022. He prides himself on working primarily with shoes he builds by hand and providing the best care he can to each and every horse presented.
In his spare time he enjoys exercising, blacksmithing, board games, learning about history and spending time with his wife, family and friends.
